Many thanks for your interest in applying to the Production Finance Market and its New Talent strand.

The Production Finance Market and its New Talent strand are open to feature film projects, including feature documentaries, according to the following criteria:

(Please note that the criteria for consideration have changed from last year.)

The main PFM invites established UK, EU and international producers to apply, who:

have a feature film project that is clearly aimed at an international audience, with a budget of at least €1m (this requirement does not apply to documentaries),

have a significant production track record and/or:

have a highly promising project aimed at the theatrical market with packaged elements in place (completed script, director, budget, two lead actors where possible),

have some amount of financing in place (guideline amount 30%) - this can take the form of applicable tax credits,

"Established" means having produced at least one feature film that has secured some form of distribution. The main market is not for first-time feature producers.

The New Talent strand (NTS) is for filmmaking teams (producer and director) applying with their first or second feature.

Priority will be given to first features, but we will also consider projects that are the second feature for one or both team members where their first feature was not widely released (whether theatrically, on streaming/VOD or television). However, if you meet the budget and experience criteria for the main market you should apply to that rather than NTS.

There is no longer a maximum budget threshold for NTS; however budgets must be realistic for a debut feature.

Producer must have demonstrable experience of physical production and/or financing.

Director must demonstrate proven success e.g. short form work selected for major film festivals, experience of television, theatre, commercials or music videos.

Applications must include a script that is fully developed and ready for finance.

NTS accepts projects seeking completion finance - we require a link to the edited film, and creative and financial information related to the final spend on the film.

Both the producer and director will be required to attend the training and market.

Applications are now closed for 2023.

The Film London Production Finance Market and its New Talent Strand are held in association with the BFI London Film Festival and supported by the Mayor of London, BFI Film Fund and the Department for Business & Trade.
